Has it been 20 years: 90’-91’ Chicago Bulls reunite to celebrate 1991 Championship
My earliest memories of NBA Basketball started with the young, up-and-coming, Chicago Bulls. They had finally bested their nemesis—the Detroit Pistons—and made it to the promise land—the NBA Finals wherein they were set to face the retooled Los Angeles Lakers led by the charismatic Earvin “Magic” Johnson.
I remember that matchup like it was yesterday: Sam Perkins taking home court advantage away from the Bulls with a dagger three pointer in Game 1; the Bulls rout in Game 2 that was highlighted by Jordan’s now-iconic up-and-under foray to the basket; the “Pippen-on-Johnson” defensive adjustment that sent the Finals series the Bulls way; and of course, Michael clutching the championship trophy that gave birth to the Bulls dynasty.
